Ben & Annabel: A September Wedding at Askham Hall, Lake District

This September wedding at Askham Hall was a true Lake District celebration - atmospheric, romantic, and beautifully unpredictable. Set on the edge of the Lake District National Park, the day unfolded against the historic stone walls and wild gardens of Askham Hall, with shifting skies and passing showers adding to the drama rather than detracting from it.

As is often the case with autumn weddings in the Lake District, the weather kept us on our toes. Moments were carefully timed between showers, with portraits captured in soft, moody light and guests moving seamlessly between Askham Hall’s intimate interiors and its secluded outdoor spaces. The result was a wedding day that felt organic and deeply cinematic, shaped by the landscape rather than controlled by it.

Askham Hall is a dream venue for couples who embrace the beauty of imperfection. This September celebration proved that dodging the weather can lead to some of the most memorable, atmospheric moments - a reminder that in the Lake District, the elements are always part of the story.
